Six Adult Day Training (ADT) clients from Brevard Achievement Center (BAC) recently got a firsthand look at just what it takes to run a zoo during a behind-the-scenes tour given by Zoo Human Resources Director, Jackie Fisher.

On Friday, April 26, Fisher discussed the various jobs that keep the Zoo operational and gave clients a tour of front- and back-end operations.  The tour began in the Administrative offices where clients learned about selling tickets and answering customer questions.  They then walked through the zoo and talked to a ticket cashier, turnstile attendant, pizza maker, Dip-N-Dots server, custodian, paddle boat attendant, snack bar attendant and the train operator/guide about their roles and the skills needed to work in each job.  As a special bonus, Fisher took clients on a special, BAC-only train ride.

“Visits such as this one allow our clients to get a better idea of what jobs are available to them in the community,” said Denise Dicarlo, Back to Work coordinator.  “We are always grateful to our community partners for allowing us to get a birds eye view of their operations,” Dicarlo said.
