Like to get your holiday shopping done early? Then come see what our artists with disabilities from The Studio at BAC have created for one of the fall's best loved arts and crafts festivals. From handcrafted Halloween and festive holiday decor to decorative sea-inspired creations made of clay, to fused glass jewelry pieces, you're sure to find an item or two begging you to take it home. Got a collegian in your midst? Be sure to check out our collegiate-inspired rubber door mats perfect for any dorm room, apartment or home. Whatever you choose, we're sure all will be pleased with your selection. Proceeds from all art sales go directly back to The Studio. All major credit cards, cash or checks (with proper i.d.) accepted.

BAC’s Inaugural E2A Community Awards and NDEAM Event

As part of its National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) activities, Brevard Achievement Center (BAC) presents the inaugural E2A (Employ, Empower: Achieve) Community Awards.  The E2A Awards honors individuals and organizations across Brevard for creating opportunities that help persons with disabilities achieve personal success. The 2017 E2A Awards' celebration will be held October 25, 2017 at the Hilton Rialto at a community-wide breakfast. In addition to the Awards, the event will feature motivational funny man Brett Leake, a “sit-down” stand-up comic with muscular dystrophy and a stand-up wheelchair user. Leake, who uses humor as a problem-solving device, is the first comedian with a physical disability to appear on NBC’s The Tonight Show. Jay Leno said, “He broke up the whole room. People realized here’s a man with a disability and he’s not gonna’ let it bother him.” Leake also has appeared on Entertainment Tonight, the American Comedy Awards and an hour-long comedy special aired on several public broadcasting stations. As a National Humor Treasure Award winner, he joins the ranks of, among others, Gilda Radner, Victor Borge, Sid Caesar, The Smothers Brothers, Art Buchwald, Steve Allen, Bob Newhart, as well as Leno. The E2A Award categories include: Employ, Empower Awards: Recognizes organizations that create work opportunities in the community for people with disabilities Moving Forward Awards: Recognizes individuals and/or organizations that have made special effort to assist people with disabilities in gaining new skills Believe and Achieve Awards: Recognizes individuals with disabilities who have made significant personal strides in achieving success through their work or personal lives

Come roll the dice at BAC's Rockledge headquarters and support the arts for all! BAC's VSA Florida-Brevard County art program will host a night of Bunco on Friday, November 3 starting with a 6 p.m. chili dinner that includes beer and wine. At 7 p.m. let the game begin! Prizes, a silent auction and 50/50 raffle also will be on hand. It's a night of fun for the whole family!

2018 Very Special Arts Festival at Brevard Zoo

That's right, 2018 marks the 30th year of Brevard Achievement Center's (BAC) VSA Florida-Brevard County's (VSAFL-BC) very special three-day hands on art event designed specifically for elementary and middle school-aged students with disabilities. Art stations, musical and physical activities in line with the "30 Rocks!" theme will be scattered throughout the zoo on February 28, March 1 and 2 from 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Themed artwork created by students also will be on display. Entrance to the Very Special Arts Festival is open to participating elementary and middle school Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students in Brevard Public Schools, charter and private schools compliments of BAC's VSAFL-BC art program. The public is welcome to join in the fun with zoo admission.
