Cogswell Street Studio
BAC’s Adult Day Training (ADT) participants get to explore their creative sides at Cogswell Street Studio, the art program of ADT. Handcrafted clay and fused glass creations, as well as beadwork for jewelry and assembly of rubber door mats, are made by our artists with disabilities in-studio to foster self-esteem and independence. When these items are sold to the public, a sense of pride also is instilled. Those interested in purchasing Studio creations can do so weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the lobby of BAC’s Rockledge headquarters, as well as throughout the year at local art fairs. In addition, art patrons can also buy Cogswell creations at Holmes Regional Gift Shop
in Melbourne and Cocoa Beach Surf Company
in Cocoa Beach. Proceeds from art sales go directly back to the Studio.Contact the Studio Director, Heidi Popp

In 1974, Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith founded Very Special Arts to provide arts and education opportunities to people with differing abilities and increase access to the arts for all. Since 2003, BAC has sponsored the VSA Florida-Brevard County (VSAFL-BC) program through its affiliation with VSA Florida.
Today, VSAFL-BC proudly offers art experiences to students of all ages, as well as adults participating in BAC’s Adult Day Training (ADT) program.
Dance, music, painting, sculpting and acting are a few of the mediums taught by visiting artists provided by VSAFL-BC within Brevard Public Schools. In addition, VSAFL-BC sponsors annual events such as the Performing Arts Showcase, Interactive Arts Festival and Holiday Card Contest thanks to grants and individual donations given to the program.
