The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has hosted summer camps, known as “Camp KSC” or “Space Camp” for many years. These camps provide a lifelong impact, launching kids into a galaxy of fun and learning! Kennedy Space Center, NASA’s launch headquarters, specializes in STEM learning at its best with activities for students ages 7 through 16.

With all of the changes due to COVID-19, Space Camp had to get creative in their delivery, so they launched Virtual Camp KSC!

Virtual Camp KSC is a 3-day online camp, with each session lasting three hours. Campers will connect in real-time via Zoom video conference to a member of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex education staff. Campers will complete activities, focused on STEM learning, hosted from a variety of locations at the visitor complex. From the safety and comfort of home, campers can complete engaging and fun activities centered on NASA-based science and engineering.

This new virtual program launched an exciting growth for Camp KSC, reaching new campers all over who may not have been able to travel to in-person camps in the past!

Campers are sent a “Camp Kit” prior to attending camp, which led to some behind-the-scenes support from Brevard Achievement Center.  Therrin Protze, COO Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, reached out directly to Amar Patel, CEO of Brevard Achievement Center, for assistance with getting these kits out to campers in a timely fashion.

“The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex family is always happy to partner with Team BAC,” said Mr. Protze. “Our Space Camp project is a great example of how businesses have had to change course quickly in response to COVID-19. We found ourselves in need of some unexpected support and BAC rose to the occasion. We received quality work, a fast turn-around time and terrific customer support, all while providing work opportunities to people with significant disabilities. I can’t think of a better outcome for everyone involved.”

Kits were packaged and shipped from the BAC production facility in Rockledge, FL., by individuals with disabilities. Our in-house Production Center can provide full mail-house capabilities, simple assembly jobs, customized kit assembly, bulk repackaging, and customized outsource services.
